They quickly discover she is very different from other nannies and “Practically Perfect in Every Way.” With a little bit of magic and the help of her pal Bert and his Chimney Sweep friends, Mary Poppins leads the children through a series of “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” adventures. They learn about the power of words from Mrs. Corry at her “Talking Shop” and the power of kindness from the Bird Woman as she “Feeds the Birds.” And, with just a “Spoonful of Sugar,” Mary Poppins reminds the Banks family, especially parents George and Winifred, that love is the real magic in our lives. Skyline's Broadway Stars is a no-cut program designed for older elementary school actors that offers the opportunity to sing, dance, act, and embark on an unforgettable journey to bring the magic of Mary Poppins to life onstage. Guided by a professional teaching artist, Stars are challenged by singing solos, developing characters, and learning fundamental musical theatre choreography in spectacular musical numbers such as “Spoonful of Sugar” and “Feed the Birds” and “Chim Chim Cheree.” From the moment auditions kick off on the first day, Stars feel the excitement of lighting up the stage as they showcase their talents. In addition to creating a full musical ensemble, every actor who participates is assigned a named role. Mary Poppins offers a “practically perfect” balance of dramatic, comedic, and enchanting roles where every actor can shine.
