Mary Poppins Broadway Performers Grades: 6th-8th Wednesday: 5:15pm-7:15pm Dates: 4/2- 6/4 Venue: Athenaeum Center Thought & Culture Address: 2936 N Southport Ave Chicago, IL 60657 Performance: Wednesday 6/4 @ Athenaeum Center Price: $425 Jane, Anne, and Michael Banks have just sent Katie Nanna, their most recent Nanny packing, as Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. They quickly discover she is very different from other nannies and “Practically Perfect in Every Way.” With a little bit of magic and the help of her pal Bert and his Chimney Sweep friends, Mary Poppins leads the children through a series of “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” adventures. They learn about the power of words from Mrs. Corry at her “Talking Shop” and the power of kindness from the Bird Woman as she “Feeds the Birds.” And, with just a “Spoonful of Sugar,” Mary Poppins reminds the Banks family, especially parents George and Winifred, that love is the real magic in our lives. Skyline's Broadway Performers is a no-cut program designed for middle school actors to level up by learning advanced performance skills as they bring Mary Poppins Jr. to life onstage. Skillfully guided by a professional teaching artist, Performers are coached in solo vocal technique, sophisticated character development, and complex musical theatre choreography in spectacular musical numbers such as “Spoonful of Sugar” and “Feed the Birds” and “Chim Chim Cheree.” From the moment auditions kick off on the first day, Performers feel the exhilaration of lighting up the stage as they showcase their talents. In addition to creating a full musical ensemble, every actor who participates is assigned a named role. Mary Poppins Jr. offers a perfect balance of dramatic, comedic, and enchanting roles where every actor can shine. Actors are given scripts, music, choreography videos, and access to more helpful materials on Skyline’s exclusive Actor Resource Page. Families receive detailed instructions on how to assemble an original costume, adding the perfect finishing touch to Mary Poppins Jr. Join Skyline’s Broadway Performers to focus talent and teamwork into a stunning final performance.
