Show: Jungle Book Broadway Highlights Ages: 8-12 One-Week Session: 7/27-7/31 Monday-Friday: 9:00-4:00 p.m. Performance: Friday Afternoon 7/31 Venue: DePaul School Of Music Address: 2330 N Halsted St. Chicago, IL 60614 Lunch & Recess: Oz Park Based on the classic Disney animated film, Disney’s The Jungle Book bursts onto the stage in a lively musical full of adventure, humor, and unforgettable songs. Deep in the jungle, a young boy named Mowgli is raised by wolves and guided by his loyal friends Baloo the bear and Bagheera the panther, all while trying to evade the fearsome tiger Shere Khan. Along the way, he encounters colorful characters like the hypnotic snake Kaa and the swingin’ King Louie, who dreams of being human. Featuring beloved songs such as “The Bare Necessities,” “I Wan’na Be Like You,” and “Trust in Me,” this theatrical journey celebrates friendship, bravery, and finding where you truly belong. Broadway Highlights is a one-week engaging musical theater experience showcasing each actor’s unique talents, specifically designed for ages 8-12. An inspiring Skyline Teaching Artist “highlights” the abilities of every actor through a short script and beloved songs that also “highlight” the best moments of the show. Broadway Highlights will learn how to stage a show and memorize lines during a compact rehearsal process, audition for solos, and dance in fully staged musical numbers. In addition to show rehearsals, days will be packed with playing drama games, crafting set elements, and fun in the sun with friends while visiting the park for outdoor lunch and recess. Actors will be motivated throughout their camp by the anticipation and shared goal of presenting their show with lights, sound, and scenery. Every actor will feel the thrill of make believe, the glow of lighting up the stage, and pride in their hard work coming together as they perform for friends and family on the final date of their camp.
