Show: Jungle Book Broadway Juniors Ages: 5-7 (actors MUST be at least 5 at the time of their participation) One Week Session: 7/27-7/31 Monday-Friday: 9:00-3:00 p.m. Performance: Friday Afternoon 7/31 Venue: Athenaeum Center Address: 2936 N Southport Ave, Chicago IL 60657 Lunch & Recess: South Lakeview Park Based on the classic Disney animated film, Disney’s The Jungle Book bursts onto the stage in a lively musical full of adventure, humor, and unforgettable songs. Deep in the jungle, a young boy named Mowgli is raised by wolves and guided by his loyal friends Baloo the bear and Bagheera the panther, all while trying to evade the fearsome tiger Shere Khan. Along the way, he encounters colorful characters like the hypnotic snake Kaa and the swingin’ King Louie, who dreams of being human. Featuring beloved songs such as “The Bare Necessities,” “I Wan’na Be Like You,” and “Trust in Me,” this theatrical journey celebrates friendship, bravery, and finding where you truly belong. Broadway Juniors is a one-week encouraging introductory musical theater experience for young actors, specifically designed for ages 5-7. Guided by a fabulous Skyline Teaching Artist, Juniors actors are empowered to express themselves and find all the fun of bringing a character to life onstage. Broadway Juniors will enhance reading skills by reciting lines, learn to sing loudly and clearly to songs they love, and develop coordination and physical stamina through basic dance steps. In addition to show rehearsals, days will be packed with playing acting games, coloring show-themed art projects, and fun in the sun with friends while visiting the park for outdoor lunch and recess. Actors will be motivated throughout their camp by the anticipation and shared goal of presenting their show with lights, sound, and scenery. Every actor will feel the thrill of make believe, the glow of lighting up the stage, and pride in their hard work coming together as they perform for friends and family on the final date of their camp.
