They awake in a land full of munchkins, flying monkeys, ruby slippers, a yellow brick road, a good witch, a wicked witch, and a mysterious wizard. Though missing Aunt Em and Uncle Henry back in Kansas, Dorothy and Toto make new friends-- a Scarecrow seeking a brain, a Tinman seeking a heart, and a cowardly Lion seeking courage-- who help Dorothy discover the power she has had inside her all along and remember "there's no place like home." Broadway Stars is a two-week in-depth musical theater experience challenging actors to put on an incredible show, specifically designed for ages 9-13. Expertly instructed by a talented Skyline Teaching Artist, actors hone their vocal, dance, and acting techniques, while working side by side with castmates to stage a polished final performance. Broadway Stars will be challenged to develop their individual characters, sing solos, and maybe even incorporate gymnastics and tricks into dances. In addition to show rehearsals, days will be packed with playing improv games, crafting show backdrops, and fun in the sun with friends while visiting the park for outdoor lunch and recess. Actors will be motivated throughout their camp by the anticipation and shared goal of presenting their show with lights, sound, and scenery. Every actor will feel the thrill of make believe, the glow of lighting up the stage, and pride in their hard work coming together as they perform for friends and family on the final date of their camp.
