Wilmette Broadway Half Day Camp: Seussical (Ages: 6-13) Two Week Session: July 13th- July 24th Monday-Friday: 9:00am-12:00pm Performance: Friday, July 24th at 11:00 AM Venue: St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church Address: 1235 Wilmette Ave. Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat and all of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters spring to life onstage in Seussical JR., a fantastical musical extravaganza! Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat narrates the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos. Horton must protect the Whos from danger, and he must also guard an egg that's been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule and danger, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant! Broadway Half Day Camp is a two-week in-depth musical theater experience challenging actors to put on an incredible show, specifically designed for ages 7-13. Expertly instructed by a talented Skyline Teaching Artist, actors hone their vocal, dance, and acting techniques, while working side by side with cast mates to stage a polished final performance. Broadway Half Day Camp actors will be challenged to develop their individual characters, sing solos, and maybe even incorporate gymnastics and tricks into dances. They’ll also get to learn and play improv games with their friends. Actors will be motivated throughout their camp by the anticipation and shared goal of presenting their fantastic show! Instructions on how to assemble an original costume will be provided to families in advance of the thrilling final performance on the final date of this camp. Every actor will feel the glow of lighting up the stage and pride in their hard work coming together as they perform for friends and family on the final date of their camp.
